Why Taekwondo
Taekwondo develops the mind, body, and spirit. Since 1996, Highkicks has helped families across Northern Virginia grow stronger — together.
Students learn to set goals, follow through, and build the mental toughness that carries into school and work.
Practical, age-appropriate self-defense skills that build real confidence and personal safety awareness.
Every belt earned is proof of effort — students stand taller knowing they can overcome a challenge.
Full-body conditioning that improves strength, flexibility, and endurance — no treadmill required.
Courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit — the tenets of Taekwondo.
Join a family of supportive peers and instructors who celebrate every milestone together.

Good to know
Everything you need to know before your first class.
Just comfortable athletic clothes and a water bottle — no uniform or equipment needed for the trial. Arrive about 10 minutes early so we can get you settled, meet the instructor, and give your child a quick tour of the studio.
Not at all. Every student starts at white belt and progresses at their own pace. Our instructors are experts at teaching beginners, and classes are grouped so first-timers learn alongside peers at a similar level.
Each student earns stripes on their belt for mastering specific skills and progresses through belt testing. Parents receive progress updates, and every belt promotion is celebrated. Ask your instructor about the milestones for your child’s program.
Two classes per week is ideal for steady progress, though we offer flexible scheduling. Consistency matters more than intensity — we’ll help you find a routine that fits your family’s calendar.
Tiny Tigers (ages 4–6), Children’s Taekwondo (7–12), and Teen & Adult classes (13+). Each program is tailored to its age group’s physical and developmental needs.
That’s completely normal and exactly why we start with a free trial. Our instructors help new students feel safe and successful from day one.
For most students training consistently, the journey takes several years. It’s a personal journey rather than a race, and the character built along the way matters more than the timeline.
Yes — we offer family discounts when multiple household members enroll, plus flexible membership options. Ask during your free trial and we’ll discuss the best plan for your family.
